“Today I Ate A Rainbow!™” is an interactive nutritional chart that makes eating a rainbow of fruits and vegetables fun! Designed for children ages 3 and up, this product is made up of a colourful rainbow chart and bright coloured magnets that allow up to 4 children (or two children and their parents!) to easily track the fruits and vegetables they eat throughout the day. Also included are four achievement magnets and a rainbow colour-coded shopping list.
Sometimes it can be challenging to get children to eat their fruits and vegetables – especially the 5 or more servings a day that is recommended. This chart provides a tangible and fun way for children to track their intake of fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables contain vitamins, minerals and powerful phytonutrients.
Many phytonutrients give fruit and vegetables their bright colour… the brighter the better! Our chart is made up of these major colour groups: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green and Blue-Purple. The different bright colours signify the different phytonutrients that each fruit or vegetable contains, therefore we use the Rainbow colours as a guide to getting a wide range of phytonutrients and nutrients in your children’s diet. Young children don’t need to know what specific nutrients each fruit or vegetable features: this chart makes it really easy for them – they just need to Eat a Rainbow every day!
About Today I Ate A Rainbow
We created the Today I Ate A Rainbow!™ chart to keep track of the produce that our daughter was eating as we found that sometimes when life got really busy we didn’t always live up to our expectations of ensuring she was eating her fruits and veggies! We also wanted her to participate and take responsibility for her food choices in a fun and interactive way.
We knew that if she ate produce from all the main colour groups every day, she would be getting a good variety of vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients. This chart was such a huge help to us with very successful results, we decided to make it available to other parents! Our plan is to expand our line of products and services to encourage healthy eating for the whole family!
Our latest product is our new children's book called The Rainbow Bunch~ Learning to eat a Rainbow of fruits and veggies! We have a lot of other exciting products and plans in the works… so check back often!
I love the concept of involving children in their own nutrition. They get to learn about the nutritional value of the foods that fall into each color category. My kids are two years and are more concerned with ripping things off the fridge then eating the colors of the rainbow but I plan on introducing this to them when they are a bit older. I am sure I will learn some things about eating more colors of the rainbow.
You can visit Today I Ate A Rainbow on Facebook or the Rainbow blog for nutritional information, tips for picky-eaters and product updates.
Many, many, MANY thanks to Kia and Today I Ate a Rainbow for donation such a great product in support of Team Linus.
