Taking out baby

The boys are over two months old and I have not taken them anywhere other than to the doctors. Even though they are healthy babies, the pediatrician recommended they stay away from crowds and not to take them to public places. This will allow them time for their immune system functioning better.

Since they have had the bronchialitis and all the congestion and drainage, I have kept them indoors. And now with the swine flu concern, I am more determined not to put the kids in harm's way.

This article says it is fine to take baby out and even some of the comments show moms taking babies out. I may be a bit paranoid and Rod doesn't understand or agree with me but I would rather err on the side of caution. Besides, I'm the mama and and they're my babies.

I understand being paranoid...I was the exact same way with Catherine, esp since she was preemie. Little less when Matthew came along and with Daniel, well, the kid had to get with the program pretty quick. :o) I have read that being exposed to things will help build up the immune system, because they will eventually pick something up. Just wait until they start putting stuff in their mouth - ack! BUT, you have to do what your gut tells you. Mother's intuition is rarely wrong. :o)

david's family meet several times a week, for meals and like that, and i'm almost at a point where i'm like, f*ggit, man, i can't do this anymore. let me just stay at home and not stress about bringing the kid out, and all the logistics that are involved. bleh.

With preemies and their past illness and current health conditions I would recommend not to take them out as well. I don't think you are being paranoid at all but I would think its pretty safe once they hit a certain weight, maybe past 6 months? Whenever you think they are strong enough to cope with any common illness that might come along the way.
